NAI KeyClub Bookdrive

Key Club is an international service program for high schoolers with branches at many different schools, including North Allegheny Intermediate (NAI) High School (grades 9-10) in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. NAI’s Key Club was a great help in launching OneBook’s first ever book drive. A special thanks goes to Mr. Rak (supervisor), Sanjit (student president), and all other Key Club members who supported us and donated books.
Key Club offers their members service opportunities throughout the year and records involvement through hours served. Teaming up with NAI’s club, OneBook ran a bookdrive from October 23rd to November 17th of 2017. Students received one donation hour for every 8 books donated. Some students donated up to 60 books themselves. It was great to see so many students join the effort to spread literacy with used books from home.
At the conclusion of the drive, we had collected upwards of 1000 books. Transporting them from NAI filled up the entire trunk and back row of an SUV! OneBook is currently in contact with our partner schools in Bangladesh to work out shipping arrangements. We plan to make the first delivery of books of December 15th, 2017.
